Do it yourself: boat with salts to decorate the bathroom

This weekend I had to stay with my nephews and I took the opportunity to make some simple crafts with them. We made gift boxes, decorated candles, bottles of colored salts for the bathroom and some more things that I will show you little by little.

Let's start with the salt cans Economical and very simple to perform, perfect to give a touch of color to the bathroom. My brother's is in blue, and this is his son's, that's why it's made in cold colors, but you can choose other shades.

Let's go step by step:

1. What do we need? How much will it cost us?

  • a decorated glass boat, I bought this in Alcampo, for only 1.5 euros. It has a beautiful shape and was available in various sizes and shapes. You can also use canned cans, bottles, or other glass bottles that you have at home
  • fine table salt, you can buy it for less than 30 cents in any supermarket. You can also opt for coarse salt or flakes and give it a different appearance

  • colore chalks that will help us to color the salt and that you can buy in any stationery for 1 or 2 euros.

  • some folios on which to color the salt, to make it as clean as possible

  • a card to place on the work table, especially if we work with children, if we do not end up putting the lost house

2. How to do it?

As I say it is very simple, I explain it in steps to make everything more clear:

  • Before you start, make sure that the boat is completely dry and that the cardboard covers the entire table

  • then fold one of the folios in half and place a small amount of salt in the middle, the thinner the stripes, the more beautiful the effect will be

  • rub the salt with the chalk until it gets the color you want, remember that with the same chalk you can get several shades

  • when the salt has the hue you want, fold the folio, and using it as a funnel, insert it into the boat forming small waves

  • Once you have repeated the process several times, until the boat is fully filled, put the cap on and ready.

As you can see it is very simple, perfect for these days off that you have at Christmas when we do not know what activities to do with children, and it is very decorative.

Note: you can vary the result by making cloth caps or ties to put on the neck. You can also paint some motif on the boat.
